Shot Music Producer, 30, Dies After Hospitals Insisted On Police Report

June 11, (THEWILL)- Ebenezer Ayeni, a Gospel music producer, scheduled for marriage next week, has died from gunshot injuries sustained from a robbery incident in his Ibadan, Oyo State home.

According to available information, the 30-year-old was shot by armed robbers who attacked his residence on Thursday.

According to the accounts of his friends, the victim was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, and J-Rapha, a private hospital, but was “refused treatment by the medical centres without a police report.”

Ayeni was said to have died about a few hours later in the pool of his own blood and his corpse was said to have been deposited in the morgue.

Anifowose Oluwasinaayomi, a friend of the deceased who announced this on his Facebook page to mourn him, said that he died from gunshot wounds.

He also stated that the music producer had planned to wed his lover next week.

“Ebenezer Ayeni was shot in his residence during the night and he was rushed to UCH but he wasn’t attended to because of Police report, and he was also rushed to J-rapha hospital in Ibadan and they also refused to attend to him because of police [report] and he gave up the ghost after struggling with life for more than 2hrs,” he wrote.

“We were planning for your wedding next week and not your burial.”

“Ebenezer Ayeni, Rest in Peace brother. Next week Saturday should have been your wedding but who are we to question God? You battled for your life for more than two hours, and UCH was asking for a police report without attending to you,” Adegbite Adedamola, another friend, wrote.

Also, Cylars Omoloye wrote: “So much to write about you: Ebenezer Ayeni. We still spoke not long and only for me to hear the news of your transition. You planned to visit me on Sunday to tidy (a) few things…What a nation we have found ourselves (in). He could have survived. Imagine, how can a police report carry so much more weight than life?”
