Shettima Inaugurates New Borno Exco As Gaidam Appoints Two New Commissioners In Yobe

BEVERLY HILLS, December 24, (THEWILL) – Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, Wednesday, inaugurated the newly- constituted state executive council as he swore-in new commissioners to preside over the affairs of the various government ministries.

This came on a day Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State also swore-in two new commissioners – Alhaji Dawa Mai Gari and Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Potiskum – as well as four permanent members of the state Civil Service Commission and members of the State Independent Electoral Commission.

The appointment of the two new commissioners in Yobe followed the resignation of Alhaji Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa and Alhaji Mohammed Dakasku who left the state cabinet to pursue other political interests.

It would be recalled that the Borno State executive council was dissolved over five months ago when some of the former members defected along with the immediate past governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Those sworn in at a brief ceremony which held in Maiduguri, the state capital, include Baba Kaka Bashir Garbai, Baba Gana Abbas Dawa, Al Amin Kamsalem, Usman Mamman Durkwa, Barr. Kaka Shehu Lawan, Dr. Haruna Mshelia, Yunus Baba Mairami, Fanta Baba Shehu, Yerima Lawan Kareto, Barr. Isa Buratai, Dr. Salma Annas Kolo, Usman Ali Zanna, Dr. Zainab Gimba, Comr. Musa Inuwa Kubo, Mustapha Fanarambe, HassanMustapha Aminami, Dr. Mohammed Bulama.

Others are Sugun Mai Mele, Ibrahim Abubakar Babale, Magaji Wamdeo, Ali Abatcha, Babagana Tijani Banki, Hajiya inna Galadima and Dr. Suleiman Bello.

Also sworn in are the newly- appointed Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Musa Modu, and Hon. Usman Chiroma, who became the new Caretaker Chairman of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council MMC and the newly – appointed Chairman, Borno State House of Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Audu Miringa.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Shettima enjoined the newly-appointed commissioners to work assiduously, urging them not to betray the trust the state government and their people have in them in the course of discharging their duties.

The governor however assured that his government would continue to focus on the welfare of the civil servants and improve on the living conditions of the people.
