Shearer Says Haaland Can Break His EPL Goal Record

October 4, (THEWILL) – If Erling Haaland of Manchester City stays healthy, Alan Shearer anticipates that the Norwegian will surpass his record for the most goals scored in a single English Premier League season.

Haaland has already established a number of records at his new club with his most recent treble against Manchester United on Sunday, the Norway international became the first player in EPL history to score hat-tricks in three straight home games.

The 22-year-old has scored 14 goals in his opening eight matches, one more than City’s leading scorer Kevin De Bruyne did throughout the entire previous campaign. In EPL history, Haaland has scored more goals than any other player at an average of one every 48 minutes.

Shearer’s 34 goals in the 1994–95 season, which tied Andy Cole’s record from the previous season, are one enduring record that Haaland may now be aiming for.

Shearer, who named Haaland in his Team of the Week, did not mince words when he stated: “If he stays fit, he’s breaking it.”
