Sevilla Loan Request For Martial Rejected

December 28, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have turned down a offer from Sevilla to sign Anthony Martial on loan until the end of the season. The La Liga club had offered to pay half of Martial’s monthly wage of £240,000.

However, United are understood to be interested in a deal that pays his entire salary plus a loan fee.

This is a fallout from events of last week after Martial notified interim head coach Ralf Rangnick that he wants to leave Old Trafford, although United have yet to make a definitive decision on whether to sanction a transfer or not.

It is claimed that if their desired terms are not met, United are willing to keep the France international beyond the January transfer window. Yet, there are still no certain plans to allow Martial feature as the 26-year-old did not make United’s matchday squad in their 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Monday.

He has made four appearances in all competitions, scoring once. “We spoke at length on Wednesday,” Rangnick said last week.

“He explained to me he’s been at Manchester United now for the last seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.

“I think in a way this is understandable, I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, it’s also important to see the situation of the club.

“We have COVID-19 times, we have three competitions in which we still have high ambitions and want to be as successful as we can be.”
