Seven Naval Officers Kidnapped In Edo

July 28, (THEWILL) – Gunmen have abducted seven naval officers travelling through Edo State and Delta State.

The officers were ambushed and kidnapped along the Sapele-Warri road while travelling to Delta from Kaduna State.

THEWILL gathered that the officers were on their way to Navy Engineering College, Sapele in Delta State.

Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Kotongs Bello, who confirmed the incident, said the command has rescued five of the officers.

SP Bello, who was unable to give details of the incident, said the command is working hard to ensure the remaining officers are also rescued unhurt.

“We rescued five and two others are yet to be rescued. That is the one I am aware of,” he said.

The development comes barely a week after terrorists abducted two soldiers and two Yobe Liaison officers on Damaturu/Maiduguri highway.

Criminal elements have been on rampage across the country, killing and kidnapping citizens despite efforts by the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

Several school children and travellers are currently in kidnappers’ dens, particularly in the North where banditry, according to the Kaduna State Governor, is a business.
