BEVERLY HILLS, January 21, (THEWILL) – Sergio Aguero, Argentine striker for English Premier League club Manchester City, who was expected back this month from a disappointing injury relapse after his first game back from injury last year, now faces yet another spell on the sidelines after returning a positive test for the coronavirus.

In December, the Man City star pleaded with fans for patience with him to get back to his best as he revealed he was still struggling with a knee injury despite making a recent return to the first team, only for a relapse to keep him out of contention.
On Thursday, the Argentine announced on twitter that he had suffered symptoms ahead of a positive diagnosis for COVID-19. His mandatory period of self-isolation immediately implies he will not be part of Manchester City’s training programme or match-day squads for the time being.
A series of injuries this season hampered his return to active training and inclusion in the City squad by manager Pep Guardiola. City have had to manage without an all-out striker especially with Brazilian Gabriel Jesus also spending spells on the sidelines.
This COVID-19 setback deals another blow to both Aguero and Pep Guardiola’s plans as City continues to contend against EPL opposition to regain the Premier League title they lost last season to Liverpool.
Aguero’s self isolation timeframe means he will miss City’s FA Cup match against Cheltenham this week and the Manchester City Premier League fixtures against Burnley and Sheffield United, at the very least.
