Sergio Aguero Exits Man City After A Decade

BEVERLY HILLS, March 30, (THEWILL) – English Premier League champions-elect, Manchester City, have announced that one of the most decorated and respected footballers to don their sky-blue shirt and represent the club would leave upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

The club will then bid a fond and emotional farewell to their legendary striker Sergio Leonel Aguero del Castillo, colloquially known as Kun Aguero.

The Argentine signed for the Cityzens in the 2011 Transfer Window and was an instant influence on the team’s success. His immediate impact began with a brace and an assist on his thirty-minute cameo debut which gave City a dominant 4-0 win over Swansea City at home. That was a small insight into what he was bringing to the side.

One of the most memorable contributions of his very storied career in the Manchester club, that followers of the League will remember for a long time after he has gone,e was his heart-stopping goal in the unforgettable final game of that same season against QPR, when the competition for the trophy went down the wire to that final game and that goal secured the Club’s first ever title in the EPL.

The goals Aguero scored in his time with City earned him the honour of being the club’s record goalscorer. He therefore broke a record that had stood for 78 years when he scored in City’s 4-2 victory against Napoli in a European tie in 2017. That goal helped him leapfrog Eric Brook’s record to ascend the club’s goal-scoring summit. He scored more after in his leading role in three further Premier League titles, one FA Cup and five League Cups for City.

Such was Aguero’s impressive football talent that he amassed an incredible 257 goals in 384 appearances to become one of the greatest players of the Premier League era and is unarguably the competition’s most lethal goalscorer in terms of goals scored per minutes played in the top flight of English football.

His clinical form in front of goal and the consistency of his delivery earned him the honour of being the highest scoring overseas player in the history of the EPL. The Argentine also overtook one of England’s best, when in January 2020, he broke Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League hat-tricks after registering his 12th against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

In his honour, for all the accolades he has won for the Cityzens, City Chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak has revealed that a statue of the striker has been commissioned to stand alongside those currently in work to honour Sergio’s former team-mates David Silva and Vincent Kompany. Furthermore, Aguero’s legend will further be marked by the installation of a dedicated and permanent mosaic at the City Football Academy.

“Sergio’s contribution to Manchester City over the last 10 years cannot be overstated. His legend will be indelibly etched into the memories of everyone who loves the Club and maybe even those who simply love football,” Al Mubarak said.

“This is not yet the moment for farewell words and speeches. There is still much to achieve in the remainder of the time we have with Sergio, and we look forward to his contributions to the challenges which lay ahead.

“In the meantime, it gives me great pleasure to announce that we will be commissioning an artist to create a statue of Sergio to live at the Etihad Stadium alongside the ones under construction for Vincent and David. And we look forward to the opportunity to bid Sergio a fitting farewell at the end of the season.”

Although recently hampered by injury, Aguero’s impact on the club will remain fond. They have begun plans to mark his departure on the final home game of the 2020/21 season against Everton, when it is hoped that thousands of supporters will be permitted to attend Etihad Stadium to pay tribute to his extraordinary contribution and achievements. He could also possibly feature.
