SAN FRANCISCO, December 17, (THEWILL) – Following Serena Williams’ naming as Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year, an award ceremony was held in her honor yesterday night at the Pier 60 in New York and saw many celebrities in attendance.
Serena was of course supported by those who have been by her side from the start of her career – her family. Her mum, Oracene Price and her sister, Venus Williams were there to support her. Other stars in attendance include Jack Nicklaus, Will Smith, Lonnie Ali, Venus Williams, Eddie Georgeand many more.
In her acceptance speech, Serena said; “I’ve had people look down on me because I don’t look like them. I look stronger….” “…This award makes me want to work harder … I want to achieve more goals.”
