September 08, (THEWILL) – In their Champions League opening match, Bayern Munich defeated Inter 2-0 at San Siro, thanks to goals from Leroy Sane in the first half and a Danilo D’Ambrosio own goal in the second.
The visitors controlled the first half and took the lead via Sane, who superbly intercepted a long ball from Joshua Kimmich before circling Andre Onana and scoring.
In the second half, Inter put more pressure on Julian Nagelsmann’s team, but D’Ambrosio’s clumsy attempt to block a Sane shot ended the match and gave Bayern all three points.
As the Bundesliga juggernauts laid the ground for what they hope will be qualification from a challenging Group C, Bayern has now won their past 19 Champions League openers.
On Saturday, Inter will host Torino to resume their Serie A schedule before they prepare for their easiest UCL group tie against Viktoria Plzen, and Bayern will play Stuttgart in the Bundesliga before welcoming former striker, Robert Lewandowski, and Barcelona to the Allianz Arena.
