Salah Wins Goal Of Season For Wonder-Strike Against Man City

May 29, (THEWILL) – Mohamed Salah has been named the English Premier League Goal of the Season winner for his superb solo goal in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Salah dribbled numerous City players to give Jurgen Klopp’s side a 2-1 lead at Anfield last October, before Kevin de Bruyne’s equaliser gave Pep Guardiola’s side a point from the fixture.

In the 76th minute, the Egyptian took up the ball on the right side of the visitors’ area and weaved his way between Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva, and Aymeric Laporte before hitting a ferocious right-footed shot across Ederson Moraes and into the far corner.

Salah has had a tremendous individual season, scoring 31 goals and contributing 15 assists in all competitions, while the Reds may have been unhappy finishing with only League trophies, the FA Cup and the Carabao trophy, after a quadruple was on the cards.

The Egyptian international’s newest accolade comes after he shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Tottenham’s Son Heung-min (both 23 goals) and beat his teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold for the league’s most assists (13). Salah beat out nine other finalists for the goal of the season accolade, including goals from Son, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mateo Kovacic and Rodri.
