October 14, (THEWILL) – Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been named the PFA Vertu Motors Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month for September.

Salah was one of six nominees for the poll, with fans picking from Antonio Rudiger, Michail Antonio, Ismaila Sarr, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ivan Toney, all of whom had strong beginnings to the Premier League season.

But, in the end, it was not even close as the Egyptian was voted the first PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month for the 2021/2022 season after receiving 69 percent of the 25,399 votes cast.

Ronaldo came in second place with 15% of the votes, while Toney, who has been in sensational form for newcomers Brentford, came in third with 6%.

Salah’s Liverpool scored three goals in each of their three September games, with the 29-year-old scoring in all three, extending his goal streak that began with two strikes in August.

Salah began the month scoring his 100th Premier League goal in a 3-0 win over Leeds United.

In his 162nd appearance, he tapped home from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross to become the fifth-fastest player in league history to reach the century mark, trailing only Alan Shearer (124), Harry Kane (141), Sergio Aguero (147), and Thierry Henry (160).

Crystal Palace were the next team to go down, unable to stop Salah’s onslaught. He was instrumental in Sadio Mane’s opener and had a couple of chances of his own before volleying home from a corner to give Liverpool a commanding advantage.

Salah and Liverpool finished the month with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Brentford, extending the winger’s scoring streak to four games. For his goal, Salah evaded the offside trap and tapped past David Raya.
