BEVERLY HILLS, June 26, (THEWILL) – Members of the dissolved national working committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, have abandoned their threat to seek redress in court. Instead, they have pledged their loyalty to the new national caretaker committee inaugurated to lead the party going forward Thursday.
THEWILL recalls that the pro-Bola Tinubu and Adams Oshiomhole block in the executive denounced the national executive committee’s decision to dissolve the executive committee, insisting the meeting was illegally convened.
Mallam Waziri Bulama, the national secretary of the sacked executive, announced Friday to journalists that the group had accepted the dissolution and blamed the crisis that rocked the party on the 2023 ambitions of some leaders of the party.
The politician also acknowledged that the organs of the party failed to function effectively, but said he’s optimistic that the party would rebound and even become stronger following the crisis.
“Following consultations with our leaders all the stakeholders, we have accepted the decision of the President on the dissolution of NWC and the setting up of a Caretaker Committee headed by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
“We are respecting the President. We are not antagonistic. All the views we expressed were in the light of the constitution of the party.
“Consulting our leaders and stakeholders does not mean going to court. We have no such plans.
“We are putting aside all constitutional and legal processes in the overall interest of the party. We have respect for authority, we appeal to all the stakeholders not to escalate the crisis in the party. We will cooperate with Buni’s committee which will organize a convention in the next six months.”
