January 14, (THEWILL) – Manchester United are expected to welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, and Phil Jones for their Premier League match against Aston Villa on Saturday.
All four players were absent from United’s 1-0 FA Cup third-round win against Aston Villa on Monday, but interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed they will be available.
“I think they will be available. They only trained for the first time, Cristiano yesterday, Harry I think the day before yesterday,” he said.
“So as it seems now we have to wait for the final training session this afternoon but as it seems right now they should be available for tomorrow.”
United will still be without Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay, who have received a one-game suspension each after receiving their fifth yellow card this season. Also, Eric Bailly and Hannibal are both in Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Rangnick also clarified the issue with goalie Dean Henderson: “Well, I told him I would like him to stay because he is a fantastic goalkeeper, training yesterday he had a couple of fantastic saves.
“I can fully understand he wants to play, he’s at an age where you should regularly play but he’s in three competitions and we need goalies right now. I can understand his desire to get regular game-time elsewhere in the Premier League.”
Manchester United now holds a nine-point lead over Aston Villa in the Premier League but trail the top four by six points.
