BEVERLY HILLS, March 28, (THEWILL) – Rivers’s Governor Nyesom Wike has applauded the Grammy award-winning Afrobeat singer and self-acclaimed “African Giant,” Burna Boy, saying, he is a pride to the state.
Wike, on Saturday evening played host to Burna Boy and his parents at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
A homecoming event was organised for Burna Boy and Governor Wike enjoined the “Odogwu” crooner to continue making the state proud as the state would always support him.
Wike said: “There is no Rivers person that will say he or she is not happy with the kind of pride you have brought to us. I am very happy and I can tell you, whatever you think we can do to promote you, we will continue to do it.”
According to Wike, the state erupted with joy when news broke out that Burna Boy won the award for his album, Twice As Tall.
“Do not relent in your musical endeavour as we will continue to give you all the necessary support required. You’ve done us proud and we owe you a duty to show you, love. Wherever you are, your people appreciate you,” Wike added.
