Revd Fr Alia Joins APC, Declares Benue Governorship Ambition

March 15, (THEWILL) – A priest of catholic faith, Very Reverend Father Hyacinth Iorhemen Alia, has declared interest to contest for Governorship seat in Benue under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made this declaration when he was presented to the people of Vandeikya local government area, by his age mates from Mbadede Council Ward at an event held in Vandeikya on Monday.

“The voice of the people is the voice of God. When people keep calling on me for this course, i prayed and has finally accepted the task bestowed on me to go and conquerer.

“Benue has been suffering in sickness and the people groaning and mourning in pains for a long time. Benue people will have a rest of mind when i eventually emerge victorious at the polls.”

Earlier in a speech, the APC chairman for Vandeikya local government area, Mr Simon Yongo, said the party have what he referred to as ‘gotten a mighty arrow’ in her quiver, pledging fair play and level playing ground for all contenders.

According to the chairman, given the crowd that graced the occasion was a clear indication of good fortune to APC in the state and urged Fr. Alia to further his political journey with the grace of God.

Some APC elders in Vandeikya local government area including Elder 1 of Jechira, Ortese Kave and D. K. Wuhe, as well as former Caretaker Chairman of the council, Mrs Aginde, Barr. Atagher, all described Fr. Alia’s aspiration as a worthwhile one, calling on people to obtain their voter cards to enable them vote for him.

In a vote of thanks, former member of the House of Representatives for Jechira federal constituency, Hon. Mrs. Dorathy Mato, expressed satisfaction with the decision of party elders for accepting and anointing their son, Fr. Alia for the race and called on them to be truthful during selection process of their son, who would wipe the tears off Benue people’s faces.

Supporting the view, Hon. Tony Jemgbagh Sende, who was former Chairman of Tarka local government council, commended Kunav people for anointing their son for the worthy course.

In his remarks, the State APC Youth Leader, Mr Tertindi Adom, advised youths not to be distracted, saying Fr Alia’s ticket is a sure deal and called on Kunav people to go for consensus candidacy, urging for the selection of Fr Alia.

He also urged people of goodwill to pray for the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, senator George Akume to win the National Chairman Seat of APC in the forthcoming party national convention in course of time.
