Rema’s Manager Speaks On Dispute With DJ Neptune

November 28, (THEWILL) – Sean Okeke, Rema’s manager, has opened up on what prompted the dispute with DJ Neptune.

THEWILL recall that Rema, on Friday, called out DJ Neptune for putting out ‘For You’, their collaboration, without his consent.

According to the singer, he was neither paid nor informed about the track’s impending release.

Rema had further demanded that the song be taken down and DJ Neptune had stated that he had followed due process.

In a statement released to the press on Saturday, Okeke attributed the misunderstanding to a gap in communication and the delay in obtaining a definite approval from Mavin Records for the track’s release.

“I acknowledge that I and my big bro DJ Neptune had conversations regarding the said collaboration as well as the song release sometime last year 2020,” he said.

“A few months passed and the artiste felt the song shouldn’t be released anymore as there was no more release timeline for it. He urged me to communicate the same with my big bro.

“I made it known to DJ Neptune sometime during our conversation that the song can’t come out again as we don’t have any more free release window available for the song and hence we can’t put it out there.

“I also, on my part, promised to follow up with the artist & label with the hope of convincing all parties to approve the song release.

“Since an official approval was not released nor split sheets signed, I felt the song won’t be released anymore.”

Okeke stated that efforts are being made to resolve the dispute and facilitate the takedown of the song as requested.

“Looking back at all that happened, I really wish I had just held my ground that the artist doesn’t really want the song released anymore which would have made DJ Neptune focus on getting other songs for his album,” he said.

“I wish to apologise to all parties involved and seek the peaceful resolution of the matter, with the song in question taken down in respect of the artist’s wish.”
