BEVERLY BILLS, January 26, (THEWILL) – Sunday Igboho has said he was not going to blame anyone, until investigation is concluded on the fire that gutted his old house in Ibadan early Tuesday.

Igboho said he was not in a hurry to blame any individual or group for the suspected arson.

“I cannot blame anyone right now for the attack, not even Fulani people. We have to thank God that nobody was killed, it is more important”,he told the Peoples Gazette.

He said he moved out of the property about a year ago to a new property also in Soka.

Meanwhile, the Police Command in Oyo State said that the fire was the handiwork of yet-to-be identified hoodlums.

The command’s spokesman, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, said reports received on the incident indicated that hoodlums set the house on fire after scaring people away with gunshots

A statement on Tuesday by Fadeyi, said, “At about 0620 hrs of today 26/01/2021, a report was received at the Santo Police Station that some unidentified hoodlums came to Sunday Igboho’s house at Soka area of Ibadan in a Hummer bus and Micra ( taxi) firing sporadically, and set the house ablaze.

“The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while the value of other properties is yet to be estimated.

“Immediately the DPO Sanyo got a wind of the incident, he contacted fire service while he also went to the scene for on the spot assessment.

“The fire was eventually put out. An investigation has commenced into the incident while the Police are on the trail of the hoodlums.”

On his part, the Director of Operation Oyo State Fire Service, Ismail Adeleke, said no life was lost in the incident.

Adeleke said that it was only the waiting room and the corridor of the building that were affected by the fire.

He said items destroyed by the fire were Plasma television set, air conditioners and chairs.

Adeleke said investigation was ongoing to ascertain the cause of the fire.

Igboho’s property in Soka, Ibadan was gutted by fire early Tuesday.

Igboho, real name Sunday Adeyemo, zoomed to national attention after he gave a quit notice to Fulani herdsmen in Igangan, Ibarapa.

The notice followed a series of kidnapping and killing linked to the herdsmen. Governor Seyi Makinde ordered his arrest.

A spokesman of President Buhari said the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has also ordered his arrest.

The arrest threat, so far, has not been effected, even after Igboho met with the new police commissioner in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko.
