Qatar 2022: England Finish As Group B Winners After Beating Wales 3-0

November 29, (THEWILL) OZhil Foden scored between a brace from Marcus Rashford in England’s 3-0 victory over Wales on Tuesday, as the Three Lions advanced to the World Cup’s knockout round top of Group B.

With the win, England is set to face Group A runners-up Senegal in the round of 16, while Wales would exit the tournament in Qatar without a victory for the first time ever in the history of their participation at the global stage.

After being left out of Friday’s goalless draw with the United States, Foden made his debut at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium. And, he was instrumental in the opener because it was he who won the free-kick that Rashford converted in the 50th minute to break the tie.

Just a minute later, Manchester City star Foden increased the lead before Rashford doubled his total to knock out a lacklustre Wales from Group B, with the USA winning their final group tie against Iran to advance as runners-up in the other game of the group.

In five days, England will play Africa’s top national team Senegal at the Al-Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, while Wales will have some downtime to consider their dismal international campaign even with their talisman Gareth Bale in tow.
