PSG Debut For Sergio Ramos Delayed Further

October 13, (THEWILL) – Sergio Ramos is further away from making his Paris Saint-Germain debut than previously thought. It appeared earlier in the week that he could be just days away from making his debut.

PSG play Angers in Ligue 1 on Friday, and it appeared that the scenario was set for Ramos’ first game in France, especially given the proximity of the match to the international break. However, it looks that the Spaniard has yet to participate fully in training and will miss Tuesday’s Champions League matches against Angers and RB Leipzig.

Instead, Ramos has continued to train separately from the rest of his teammates. The centre-back is also unlikely to be available for the Leipzig match, according to the French publication, Le Parisien, which was backed up by Juanfe Sanz on El Chiringuito on Tuesday night.

“Sergio Ramos has recovered, but he will not play on Friday,” said Sanz. “He’s got the all-clear from the medical staff, but after such a long time out, neither the player nor the coach [Mauricio Pochettino] want to rush things.

“It already happened once that he returned to training and had a setback in his first session. They don’t want to risk another month out for the sake of a week.”

Pochettino and PSG do not want to put Ramos under too much strain or force him back too soon, but they are certain that he will be fully healthy and capable of competing at a top level before long.

It is a question of when, not if, but the French club is not worried with the latter, which is why they have always avoided putting a time limit on Ramos’ return and eventual debut. His debut is eagerly anticipated by the Paris faithfuls but particularly the player, who will be eager to get back on the field and put a bad year behind him.
