BEVERLY HILLS, May 02, (THEWILL) – Several reports monitored by THEWILL have confirmed an invasion of the football pitch at the Old Trafford home of English Premier League second-placed side, Manchester United. The crowd involved in the invasion are Man U fans still protesting against the Glazer family’s ownership of the club.
There are no indications if this pitch invasion, at a time when fans are still not allowed into match venues, will interfere with the Red Devils’ Sunday match against EPL defending champions, Liverpool at Old Trafford due to kickoff at 4:30pm local time.
Angry Manchester United fans have been unrelenting in their protest against the club’s owners since especially after the announcement of a formation of a new European Super League, that had United as one of the founding members, against the best wishes of the club’s staunchest supporters.
However, some of the protesters have confirmed that it is now bigger than the ESL as one was quoted as insisting that the protest “isn’t just about the European Super League”, adding that the Glazer family, which has controlled the club since 2005, “need to go”.
The supporters are voicing their distaste for the Glazer family, who have controlled the Premier League club since 2005, and witnessed a downturn of the football fortunes that former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson built into an imposing fortress.
