June 04, (THEWILL) – A protester tied herself to the net during the French Open semi-final between Marin Cilic and Casper Ruud at Roland-Garros, causing the match to be delayed for a long while.
When the incident occurred, Ruud was leading Cilic 4-1 in the third set and the score was 15-15 on his serve before the protester stormed onto Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Both players were stunned as the match was halted for a long time, with the protester tied to the net and sitting down with a t-shirt on which some text was scribbled to promote her cause.
The players were taken away from the court until the protester was led off. The players then returned to continue the semi-final, which Rudd won to book a final against Rafa Nadal.
