Potiskum Phone Market Bombing : Death Toll Rises To 7

BEVERLY HILLS, January 12, (THEWILL) – Death toll in Sunday’s terrorists attack on Potiskum GSM market in Yobe State has risen to seven from the earlier reported figure of six.

The number of those injured in the bombing has also been put at 48 as against 46 that was earlier reported.

Yobe State governor Ibrahim Gaidam disclosed this Monday during a sympathy and condolence visit to the families of the victims of the attack in Potiskum.

The governor, who disclosed that the injured were taken to the General Hospital Potiskum from where 11 were referred to the Federal Medical Centres Nguru and Birnin Kudu, promised to foot the medical bills of all the injured victims.

Gaidam said: “We will provide every support that the injured need to ensure they recover fully. We will pay all the bills, even if it means sending those who have been referred to other hospitals outside the country.”

The governor, who also visited some of the injured who are receiving treatment at General Hospital Potiskum, prayed to God for the repose of the souls of those who died in the attack and grant quick recovery to the injured.

While condemning the insurgents attacks in the country as barbaric , he called for intense prayer for the restoration of peace and security in the country.

Gaidam also instructed the acting Principal Medical Officer (PMO) at the Potiskum General Hospital , Dr. Musa Sarki, to immediately liaise with the state Commissioner of Health and submit a memo on a proposal he made for the establishment of an Emergency Response Centre at the Hospital, assuring that he would give the memo quick attention once he receives it.
