Pope Francis’ Personal Physician Dies From COVID-19 Complications

SAN FRANCISCO, January 10, (THEWILL) – Dr. Fabrizio Soccorsi, the personal physician to Pope Francis is dead.

According to L’Osservatore Romano, the 78 year old who was hospitalized in Rome on Dec. 26 for a previous health issue, died on Saturday.

Soccorsi has been Pope Francis’ personal doctor since 2015. It is not clear when he was last in contact with him.

The pontiff has said the Vatican will begin COVID-19 vaccinations next week, and that he will be in line to receive the shot.
