Poor APU And GPU Delay United Nigeria’s Monday Flight From Asaba

United Nigeria.

June 28, (THEWILL) – A United Nigeria Airlines flight scheduled to operate out of Asaba International Airport on Monday suffered a delay.

The flight with Embraer 145, flight U50509, developed an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) fault on the ground but could not be fixed immediately due to the fact that there was no Ground Power Unit (GPU) at the airport.

United Nigeria Airlines in an official statement issued Monday, signed by the Head, Corporate Communications, Mr. Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, confirmed the incident.

According to Uchegbu: “A United Nigeria Airlines aircraft operating out of Asaba International Airport, today, June 28, 2021, developed an APU fault on ground leading to the disembarkation of passengers on the 2:15pm flight.

“Asaba Airport doesn’t have a Ground Power Unit which is usually deployed in the event the APU fails to respond.

“This is standard operating procedure and the passengers were briefed.”

THEWILL gathered that the battery was fixed by the airlines engineers and the aircraft later continued its flight to Lagos.

Assuring passengers of their safety, Uchegbu stressed:  “United Nigeria takes the safety of its passengers as top priority and assures its numerous customers that safety shall never be compromised.”
