Police Wives, Children Are Highly Demoralised – POWA President

August 25, (THEWILL) – The wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mrs Hajia Hajara Alkali-Baba, has said that police women and children are highly demoralised and stressed the need to bridge the gap.

Mrs Baba, who is the national president of Police Officer’s Wives Association (POWA), made the disclosure when she led other women on a courtesy visit on the Ochi’Idoma, Chief John Elaigwu Odogbo, at his palace in Oturkpo on Tuesday.

According to her, police children are educationally backwards; saying the cardinal point of POWA under her was to promote education, health and welfare of members.

The Inspector General of Police’s wife said she has so far toured sixteen states of the federation, in order to have first hand information about the needs of police officer’s wives, with the aim of tackle them head long.

She commended the Ochi’Idoma and other traditional rulers for the reception accorded her and the entire team at the palace; saying her visit to Benue would be eventful.

Responding, the Ochi’Idoma, Chief Odogbo, described Hajia Baba’s visit as homecoming having hailed from Ogbadibo local government area by birth.

He charged the POWA president to strive towards leaving an impactful legacy that would serve as a point of reference at the end of her tenure of office.

The Ochi’Idoma noted that wealth, education and health, which are the her agenda, are the bedrock of the government and pledged to support her to achieve the set goals.

While describing the Commissioner of Police, Benue State command, CP Wale Abbas, as a crime fighter, Chief Odogbo hoped that the Inspector General will end well in office.
