BEVERLY HILLS, December 13, (THEWILL) – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole was Friday restricted to his Benin City, Edo State residence by the police after the Edo State government banned political rallies in the state to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
The ban meant that the much publicized Friday mega rally by the faction of the APC in the state under the control of Oshiomhole to welcome Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his supporters back to the party from the PDP was aborted for a small private gig at the residence of Ize-Iyamu. Oshiomhole was prevented from attending the reception.
The feud between Oshiomhole and Governor Godwin Obaseki and the leadership of the state chapter of the party continues unabated despite multiple efforts to find a truce.
Police sources said Oshiomhole was ‘technically’ kept under house arrest even though the ever-combative politician dismissed his arrest.
THEWILL gathered that Oshiomhole, who helped install Obaseki as governor is moving to truncate his re-election by handing the party’s ticket to Ize-Iyamu. But, Obaseki and the APC in the state are fighting back and hard to checkmate the chairman.
The Governor alongside majority of the governors elected on the APC platform are plotting to oust Oshiomhole as chairman of the party.
