Police Foil 20-Man Gang Attack On Dangote Refinery In Lagos

March 30, (THEWILL) – The Lagos Police Command has confirmed the attempted attack on Dangote Refinery within the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LTFZ) Lagos.

The Command in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, about 20 armed hoodlums gained access to the refinery through the lagoon.

Hundeyin said they were repelled while attempting to cart away installed armoured cables in the facility in the early hours of Monday.

“The hoodlums, about 20, who gained access to the refinery through the lagoon side, were repelled.

“On sighting security operatives, they fled the scene.

“One of the hoodlums was hit in the ensuing gunfire and died on the way to the hospital.

“Investigation has commenced with a view to arresting the fleeing attackers”, he added.

Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi has ordered that security at the refinery be fortified immediately.
