January 22, (THEWILL) – While celebrating Aston Villa’s 1-0 triumph at Goodison Park, Lucas Digne and Matty Cash were each struck by a bottle thrown by Everton fans. As they celebrated Emiliano Buendia’s opening, they were smacked by a plastic bottle thrown from the crowd.

Cash and Digne, with the latter joining Villa from Everton two weeks ago, both remained on the ground for a short while before returning to the game.

During the celebrations, several bottles and objects appeared to be thrown.

In the second half at Goodison Park, a tannoy announcer said: “This is a club safety announcement. Should anyone be found throwing bottles or any other items on the pitch you will be arrested and banned from the club.”

The event is being investigated by the police and Everton personnel. Cash remarked about the incident after the game: “It was crazy. It hit me straight on the head. It’s not nice having that, but we got three points, so we’ll take that.”
