October 28, (THEWILL) – The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has disclosed that the police is collaborating with traditional leaders and other stakeholders, ahead of the Anambra governorship election slated for November 6.

The IGP spoke on Thursday during a ministerial briefing at the State House in Abuja.

He said the police have deepened assurance through community engagements, talking to traditional leaders, stakeholder meetings, jingles, etc, and will ensure the adopted strategy will adequately enlighten the people and embolden them to vote.

According to him, the police have deployed 34,587 personnel (overt and covert) to the state.

Lamenting the delay in judicial processes, the IGP said over 20,000 active criminal cases filed by the police are still pending in court without proper justice meted out.

The police chief further noted that the issue of kidnapping for ransom and criminality will continue unless the process for conviction, and the dispensation of justice within the system is improved upon.
