Police Blame Baba Ijesha For Failing To Meet Bail Conditions

BEVERLY HILLS, May 21, (THEWILL) – The Lagos police authorities have refuted claims of monetising the release of Baba Ijesha, the Yoruba actor accused of sexually assaulting the 14-year-old foster daughter of the Comedian Princess.

THEWILL recalls that Baba Ijesha, whose real name is James Olanrewaju, was granted bail after 25 days in police detention.

However, he has remained in police custody despite being granted bail.

Adesina Ogunlana, a lawyer who claimed to be in Baba Ijesha’s legal team, said the Lagos police’s decision to monetise the film star’s release prevented his release.

Reacting to the claims on Friday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), refuted any attempt by the police to extort the actor.

“It’s not true. No one is monetising his release. He has not met with the bail conditions. Anyone making such an allegation is mischievous or seeking undue public attention,” Adejobi said.

Muyiwa also stated that Ogunlana was not in charge of the legal team handling Baba Ijesha’s case.

He disclosed that Baba Ijesha’s failure to immediately meet his bail terms informed his continued detention.

The PPRO added: “Everyone involved in his case knows he has not met the bail conditions. Baba Ijesha’s case is purely a legal matter and there are procedures to follow. The command is not keeping him but the law.

“Yes. He who alleges must prove. However, the man alleging is not Ijesha’s lawyer. Find out.”
