November 02, (THEWILL) – Police in Ogun state have arrested a housewife, Memunat Salaudeen, for allegedly conspiring with three others to kidnap her husband along Papa/Itori Road in Ewekoro local government area of the state
She was arrested alongside the three suspects: Olayinka Lawal, Asungba Nura and Usman Oluwatoyin, on November 1, 2021.
The woman confessed that she decided to employ the services of the three men to abduct her husband because he is stingy.
However, her plan to kidnap him for N8,000 failed when the police led by Inspector Sunday Imohiosen, apprehended the men at about 6:30 pm along Papa/Itoro road during a stop and search.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in Abeokuta, the suspects were nabbed on their motorcycle because their looks raised suspicion.
Oyeyemi said the police recovered a cutlass and a rope during the search, forcing them to inquire about their mission with the weapons.
The PPRO said: “The three of them gave different answers to the question. This further aroused the suspicion of the policemen, who then decided to interrogate them more.
“In the course of interrogation, the three of them confessed that it was one woman who was later identified as Memunat Salaudeen that gave them the sum of #8000 to buy a cutlass and a rope strong enough to tie a human being.
“They confessed further that, the woman who is a nurse in their area at Balogun tuntun Gas line Ifo, asked them to go and hid somewhere along that road, and that she will lure her husband to the place where they will kidnap him and tie him with the rope and then ask for ransom.
“They further informed the police that the woman told them that, that is the only way she can get money from her husband who she accused of being very stingy despite the fact that he has money.
“It was the place they were going according to their plan before they were intercepted by the police.”
When the woman, a nurse, was brought to the scene, she began to confess on seeing the three other suspects in police custody.
She admitted she is the brain behind her husband’s planned kidnap because he had not been giving her money and that she decided to abduct him in order to get money from him at all cost.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the anti-kidnapping unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation
