SAN FRANCISCO, September 13, (THEWILL) – A twenty-three-year-old man, Dansu Asogba has been arrested by the operatives of Ogun State Police Command for murder.
The suspect was arrested over the killing of his sixty-year-old aunt, Iyabo Dansu over alleged witchcraft.
A statement by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report by the children of the deceased at Ipokia divisional headquarters that their mother, “who was not sick”, had been reportedly killed.
Oyeyemi said that the children of the deceased had “threatened to carry out a traditional ritual to expose the killer. The suspect who had suddenly left the house since the woman was declared dead came out to confess to the crime when he heard of the plan of the children of the deceased to employ the services of a traditionalist to unravel the killer”.
“The suspect claimed that the deceased was responsible for the death of his first child and the subsequent miscarriage suffered by his wife. He used an iron rod to hit the woman on the neck which resulted in her death”, he added.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
Mr Ajogun appealed to members of the public to always report any of their grievances to law enforcement agencies who would properly investigate such complaints.
