September 19, (THEWILL) – Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to deploy an internal mechanism in tackling the crisis arising from its national convention.

Governor Ortom said this while addressing the expanded caucus of the PDP at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi on Monday.

He insisted that the party ought to listen to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and other aggrieved interest groups in the South-South geopolitical zone for peace to rain.

“It is not about dismissing people with a wave of the hand because even one vote is very important in the 2023 general election.

“If my personal advise was heeded to before the PDP convention, the current crisis would have been avoided. I hate injustice and imbalance and I will not keep quiet,” he said.

According to him, the 2023 agenda is to rescue Nigerians from the hands of what he described as the ‘evil APC’ led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Ortom stated that the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress “demarketed” itself, even as some of its elected members have decamped into the PDP from Benue State House of Assembly with PDP, having 26 out of 30 members.

“PDP has coordinated itself well through due process in conducting it primaries without rancour and litigation. We had 36 PDP governorship aspirants but after nomination, none had gone to court unlike the APC”.

Ortom who commended former governorship aspirants in the state for their understanding, assuring that the party under his leadership will clinch victory in the state during next year’s general election.
