BEVERLY HILLS, February 17, (THEWILL) – The Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the decision of the Port Harcourt division of the Court of Appeal that declared Ali Modu Sheriff as the authentic National Chairman of the PDP.
The faction blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its loss of the party’s leadership to Sheriff vowing to challenge it at the Supreme Court.
In a tweet on Friday, @OfficialPDPNig, the PDP faction alleged that the judgment of the appeal court showed that the APC was out to create a one-party state.
“1. Two out of the 3 man Justices of the Appeal Court gave a scanty judgment in favour of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff while one for Makarfi,” the faction tweeted.
“2. The Judgment has finally shown that the ruling Party, the APC is out to create a one party state in the country.
“3. The Party is proceeding immediately to the Supreme Court to file an appeal against the ruling of today’s appeal court judgment.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has urged members and supporters of the party not to worry over the ruling of the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt, on the lingering party leadership tussle.

“There is no cause for alarm. The party leadership will meet as soon as possible to take a decision on the best way forward,” he said.
“I enjoin party faithful to remain steadfast as we will surely emerge stronger from the present challenges.
“Those dreaming about the death of the opposition in Nigeria will have to sleep much longer, and still wake up to meet us much stronger because a vibrant opposition is the beauty of democracy.”
