SAN FRANCISCO, June 16, (THEWILL) – Residents of Chibok community in Borno State are now living in fear as Boko Haram gunmen have sent a letter to the community , threatening to launch a fresh attack on the already traumatised residents.

The development is coming over two months after the insurgents stormed the community to abduct over 200 school girls from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, most of whom are still being held by the terrorists.

A top official of Chibok Local Government confirmed this to a group of journalists Monday in Maiduguri, the state capital, saying the insurgents recently sent a letter to the community, threatening a fresh attack.

He said the development had been reported to the police who have assured them of protection from the terrorists.

He however said that despite the assurance from the police, residents of the community now live in fear of the unknown because “everyone knows that this sect cannot be deterred by a pocket of security men and that perhaps informed why they had to send a letter to us to be expecting them.”

According to the Council official, “Whenever Boko Haram tells you that they are coming, they never fail to come. Our fears now is that, we don’t know when and how they are going to come but our people are in great fear. We are calling for prayers and on government to provide adequate security in Chibok.”
