BEVERLY HILLS, March 20, (THEWILL) – Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Khan tested positive for the virus two days after he received the first shot of Chinese vaccine, Sinopharm, on March 18.

“PM Imran Khan has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating at home,” Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan, said on Twitter.

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said: “The people of Pakistan are praying for their beloved leader. May God return him to good health soon.”

On Thursday, the 67-year-old was vaccinated as part of the nationwide anti-coronavirus vaccination campaign which is underway in its first phase.

The Pakistani Dawn newspaper said Khan after receiving his vaccination, appealed to the nation to ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures (SOPs).

This he said was to prevent the spread of Covid-19, as Pakistan is gripped by a third wave of the virus

Khan on Friday, visited Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where he toured Malakand University and inaugurated a new academic block and addressed a gathering of students.

He also visited the Swat Motorway, where he inaugurated the Swat Expressway Tunnels.
