Oyo PDP Elects Dayo Ogungbero State Chairman As Faction Holds Parallel Congress

October 16, (THEWILL) -The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Dayo Ogungbenro as Chairman of the party in the State.

Ogungbero secured a total vote of three thousand, one hundred and ten (3110) votes in Saturday’s State Congress of the PDP in Oyo State.

Enugu state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who declared the result at the end of the election also pronounced James Olukunle, the deputy chairman of the state’s PDP.

Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, described the congress as historical.

The Governor, who said the party’s next national Congress would unite the entire country, called for unity of all members of the party in the State.

Meanwhile, Michael Okunlade, has emerged factional chairman of the PDP in Oyo State.

Okunlade, who emerged from the parallel congress held on Saturday by the aggrieved members of the party in the State, accused the State governor of sidelining them in the affairs of the state, adding that Governor Makinde has refused to acknowledge their demands.

Earlier, hoodlums had vandalized over 45 vehicles parked around the Jogor Centre, where the aggrieved faction held its congress.

The hoodlums, in their scores, armed with sticks and cutlasses, were, however, prevented by security operatives from entering the venue of the congress
