Osun 2022: APC North Central Wants Abdullahi Adamu Sacked

July 19, (THEWILL) – A section of the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the North Central APC Forum, has called for the sack of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, following the party’s undisputable defeat in last week’s gubernatorial election in Osun State.

Speaking with news men in Jos on behalf of the group, the Forum’s chairman, Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, said Adamu is already failing the party. If he continues as the party’s Chairman, he stated, the Party will suffer more losses in the 2023 general elections.

Zazzaga pointed out that since the emergence of Adamu as the APC National Chairman, the party has been going through setbacks ranging from defection of members and losing of elections, noting that of Osun State last week, where the governor has incumbency advantage is most regrettable.

He said prior to the election, Senator Abdullahi Adamu had vowed to deliver Osun for the party, saying although they believed him and were hopeful, he has failed to deliver and that is now going to set them back and boost the confidence of the opposition PDP in the 2023 elections.

According to him, Adamu’s arrogant posture and his non-tolerance of suggestions and advice have
made many members of the party to be disenchanted with the party and have lost faith in the party as well.

The Forum thus calls on the party leaders to urge Adamu to resign or call him to order and task him to deliver on his mandate, so that the party will not suffer defeat in 2023, because the elections will be fiercely contested from the national to the state government level.

The Forum also notes that from the way the PDP is restrategising and the recent threat from the Labour Party, particularly at the national level, if the APC is not careful and urgently restrategises, it will be shocked beyond redemption in 2023.

The Forum said it has it on good authority that between now and 2023, many APC leaders and members will leave the party to other parties, and such defections would greatly affect the Party’s chances in the elections.
It called for urgent constitution of reconciliatory committee to pacify aggrieved members from the fallout of the primary elections from the states to the national level, so that they will remain in the party and work for its success.

The Forum also called on the Party to set up a committee to brainstorm on the anger the APC Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket is generating in many circles of national discourse, and find a way to resolve the issue amicably, because it is a very tempestuous, sensitive, and delicate issue.

At the same time, however, the Forum urges party members and supporters to remain calm despite the Osun election outcome, saying the party will endeavour to recover and put the Osun issue quickly behind so that it does not affect their preparedness for the 2023 general elections.
