BEVERLY HILLS, May 17, (THEWILL) – The controversy over who gets to sign the 2017 budget may have been put to rest.
According to a post on Wednesday by Laolu Akande, spokesman of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, the Acting President will sign the bill.
“Just so we are clear, when the time comes, everything is clear and he is satisfied, Acting President Osinbajo will assent to the 2017 budget,” he wrote on Twitter.
THEWILL recalls that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, was reported to have said that the Federal Government has not decided on who to sign the budget even though President Muhammadu Buhari, who is in London for medical reasons, did transfer power to his deputy, Osinbajo.
Mr. Mohammed’s controversial comment was received with mixed reactions from the public.
This comes on the heels of the passage of the 2017 appropriation bill by the National Assembly.
