SAN FRANCISCO, November 16, (THEWILL) – Napoli forward Victor Osimhen was excluded from the Super Eagles delegation to Freetown for the return leg of their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers scheduled for Tuesday, November 17.

The Nigerian striker was mandated to return to Italy and departed the Benin City Nigerian camp of the Super Eagles on Sunday, November 15.

In Naples, the medical team of the Azzurris will attend to the injury on his shoulder that he sustained in the second half of Nigeria’s 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone.

The Nigeria medial team that provided the initial prognosis concluded that the 21-year-old could be sidelined for at least two weeks.

A confirmation of that timeline in Naples will mean Napoli could be without their striker for crucial games against AC Milan in the Serie A and Rijeka in the Europa League and even be considered doubtful against Roma on November 29.

Osimhen was pivotal to the Super Eagles’ haul of four goals as he was directly involved in three of the four last Friday. He scored his fifth international goal in the 21st minute before he providing assists for the goals scored by Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze.
