Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo is the chief whip of senate, the 7th National Assembly from 2012 to date and also awarded with an honour of Chief order of Niger (CON) by the President Goodluck Jonathan; he is the pioneer member of the PDP in Kano and the country in general who immensely contributed to its development in Kano state.

He was in the 4th senate from 1999 to 2003 and 5th senate from 2003 to 2007, he also served as vice chairman of the committees like Ethics, code of conduct and public petitions also chairman interior Affairs, among others.

Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo became the household name in all the families across the people of Kano state not only in his senatorial district of Kano North but to the entire state because of his gigantic effort to provide purposeful and exemplary leadership in the senate.

He was seen as the youngest politicians who controlled virtually all the 13 local government areas out of the 44 local government of the state due to his openness and bringing himself closer to them, while he was also believed to be a bridge builder between the rich and the poor. He had the backing of the masses, elites, traders, students and well to do in the society.

Senator Bello contested the senatorial seat in 1999 and luckily emerged winner of the senatorial election which highest votes against his opponent that came from the opposition parties, while the constituents consider Bello as their political messiah because of his concern to the development of his people and their areas.

He always made himself servant of the people due to empowerment programmes which bolster people to be always self-employed and avoid redundancy in the society which will soon yield positive change.

Part of his human and society development across the people of Kano North senatorial district includes the provided of electricity in 19 villages, supplied water in three villages, distributed 3885 machines for dry season farming, distributed 188 pumping machines, built 24 fully furnished class rooms, as well as establishing four computer centres; and with a pledge to build additional 26 class rooms before the end of the present tenure”.

Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo had distributed empowerment items worth over N80 million to hundreds of beneficiaries within the 13 Local Government Areas of Kano state.

Bello Hayatu who is popularly called by his electorate as “Muna Hade” to his simplicity, has also distributed 26 Volkswagen Cars, 130 Work-bulls, ploughs, 130 tricycles for the handicaps, 156 motorcycles, 130 sewing machines, 130 grinding machines, 130 barbing equipments, farm implements, solar street lights in 19 villages, 58 bore-holes and seven generators, as part of his programmes to empower the people within his senatorial zone.

In the area of education for all, Senator Gwarzo also sponsored 390 students are to benefit from his scholarship programmes valued at N7.1 million, including empowerment bonus of N13 million cash to 1300 beneficiaries.

He also constructed a boarding science secondary school for girl at Gwarzo town which have two science laboratories, two hostels, library, a twin three-bedroom flats for the principal and his Vice and four other structures to serve as staff quarters, while the project is about to be commission.

Gwarzo also said that the establishment of the proposed Girls’ Science Secondary school was dream come true, adding that he has been on the vanguard of promoting girl-child education.

Recently, an agreement has been signed between the Senator Bello Hayatu and Small and Medium Enterprises Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) on the training of the selected people and also on possible ways of assisting them in building their self initiated business empires.
