BEVERLY HILLS, April 08, (THEWILL) – Members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) loyal to its Late Founder and President, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, have expressed their readiness to work with relevant agencies and non-state actors towards stemming the insecurity enveloping the country.

Speaking after his election as the President of the OPC at its well-attended convention in Lagos on Thursday, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi also known as “Askari,” charged members to rededicate themselves to the security of states where they resided in order to ward off the activities of insurgents.

He urged OPC members to redouble their efforts in securing the South-West and other states where they are relevant.

Afolabi told OPC members to be prepared to work with other security agencies, stressing that one of the major things the organisation had always been noted for its securing of lives and property.

He however impressed it on them not to compromise their positions.

Afolabi said: “On the issue of Insecurity, we say that OPC is ready to work with all state and non-state agencies to ensure that Nigerians can sleep with their two eyes closed and travel without fear.

“The job of securing the environment does not lie with the Nigerian police and security agencies alone.”

Afolabi said under his leadership, OPC would be rebranded into a group of disciplined and prosperous individuals that continue to fight for the enforcement of social justice in Nigeria.

Earlier in his speech, an associate of Fasehun and Homeland Secretary of Ilana Omo Oodua, Bashorun Kunle Adesokan, charged OPC members not to deviate from the principles and objectives of the Founder.

He warned the members that if they could no longer guarantee the core objective behind the formation of the group, which was the protection of Yoruba interest, they should stop parading themselves as OPC members.
