Ohaji-Egbema Refinery Fire Incident: Ihedioha Commiserates With Bereaved Families

April 28, (THEWILL) – Former Imo Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, says he has received with a rude shock and sadness, the news of the fire outbreak that claimed over 100 lives and properties, Friday, at an illegal refinery located at Abaeze in Ohaji-Egbema LGA of Imo State.

In a Press release dated April 25, 2022 and signed by his Media Aide, Chibuike Onyeukwu, which was made available to Journalists, Rt. Hon. Ihedioha describes the incident as unfortunate and avoidable, while calling for full investigation and prosecution of all those behind the carnage to avert future occurrences.

“This is one loss too many. My heart bleeds for the victims, families and affected communities of this unfortunate and avoidable disaster.”

According to him, it is a period of grief and sober reflection for Imo, which he regretted has been bedevilled by insecurity and other challenges.

While calling for a deliberate action to nip the increasing activities of illegal refinery and bunkering in the bud, he urged citizens to take adequate precautions and avoid activities that could expose them to dangers of losing their lives and properties.

The former Governor, therefore, commiserated with bereaved families of victims of the incident, praying God gives them the fortitude to bear the loss.
