BEVERLY HILLS, November 22, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has again insisted that he will not seek tenure elongation shooting down speculations that he is working towards amending the constitution to achieve that.
The president’s second term ends in 2023 and will not be eligible for another term except the constitution is amended.
Buhari told senior party leaders including powerful state governors at the All Progressives Congress, APC NEC meeting Friday in Abuja that he would leave office in 2023 as prescribed by the constitution.
“… I am not going to make the mistake of attempting a third term in office. Besides the age, the constitution makes provision for only two terms…,” the president said.
