BEVERLY HILLS, January 27, (THEWILL) – Nollywood actor, Ernest Asuzu is dead. He reportedly slumped and gave up the ghost on Tuesday evening.
Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria confirmed that Ernest is no more. Also confirming his death is his wife, Jennifer who said he fainted and never woke up.
A few years ago, Ernest suffered a mild stroke that got him bed ridden for three years. Unable to take care of his hospital bill, Pastor Jeremiah Fufeyin came to his rescue. The clergyman reportedly healed him of the mild stroke and gave him some money to help with his rehabilitation.
A year ago, Ernest’s financial situation got worse and he resorted to begging for alms on the streets of Lagos. His health condition wasn’t any better.
The Anambra State First Lady, Ebele Obiano this time came to his rescue following which the actor attributed his situation to spiritual problems.
Ernest who began acting in the ’90s rose to prominence after he starred in the 1997 Nollywood classic, ‘Rituals’. He later tried his hands in the music industry as a rapper but he didn’t make a success of it.
