BEVERLY HILLS, CA, June 08, (THEWILL) – Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has said that despite the security challenges and multi-ethnic nature of the country, Nigerians still see themselves as one.

Dr. Uduaghan made the observation Sunday at the third anniversary thanksgiving service of the fifth assembly of the Delta State House of Assembly held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, West End, Asaba.

According to him, Nigerians are no longer affected by ethnic, language or cultural barriers as they live comfortably as one wherever they are.
He called for prayers for the release of the abducted students of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State and an end to the insurgency in the country.

He decried the actions of the insurgents that have wrecked havoc on some states of the country noting, “today the House of Assembly is celebrating, just last week the Executive celebrated and the celebrations have been low key because some human beings believe we should not have Western Education, whereas, they are using Western Education to carry out propaganda.”

“We have dedicated this period to pray for the release of the Chibok girls and end of terrorism throughout the world,” the Governor said, reiterating, that it was important for prayers to be offered for those who are facing attacks daily in troubled areas.

He added, “As a state, we must not be too relaxed, we must be vigilant, please, know your neighbours, be at alert and let the security agencies know if you see things that are unusual and let somebody know when you see strange things and unusual movements because, the security of lives and property is uppermost in our minds.”

Dr Uduaghan congratulated the House of Assembly and other legislators for celebrating and used the occasion to assure Nigerians that politicians are trustworthy and will deliver on their electoral promises.

“For us, when we make promises, we keep them,” the Governor said at the occasion which was attended by his wife, Roli; his Deputy, Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN) and his wife, Nelly; the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya and his wife, Uche; members of the Delta State House of Assembly and their spouses, Senators, among others.

Rev. Fr. Francis Onwordi in his homily, urged Christians to imbibe the spirit of unity and oneness so as to receive blessings, contentment, knowledge, wisdom, love and dispel fear.

“Praise God for what He has done in your life, praise God for what he is using you to do and praise God for what he will continue to do in your life,” the Priest said.
