July 07, (THEWILL) – English Premier League side and UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea have officially confirmed the inclusion of Nigerian youngster Richard Olise in the 2021-2022 season intake of new academy scholars.
The information was contained on the official Chelsea website, where Olise, the younger brother of Reading playmaker and 2021 Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise, was listed. He is one of ten teenagers who signed scholarship forms with the club ahead of the new season.
The scholarship deal will be activated on July 1, 2021 following the confirmation from the Stamford Bridge club that the younger Olise is among in their academy scholars programme.
Olise began at the London club as the Under-9 grade and followed through the programme as he grew in rank to represent the club at the Under-18 level. He has had experience playing for Chelsea against Brighton & Hove in March 2021 in the U18 Premier League.
The description of the young player on the website says that Olise is “a very calm and composed right-sided defender who has the ability to both defend and attack, and has all the attributes of a modern-day full-back”. These glowing compliments endeared him to the club management and earned him his place in the Academy.
Further information about Olise from the website show that his scholarship deal will be automatically upgraded to a professional contract when he turns seventeen years old, an upgrading that will be a step towards greater responsibilities and achievements.
