BEVERLY HILLS, June 07, (THEWILL) – Beyonce Ajomiwe, Nigerian Idol contestant, has been evicted after her performance at the eighth episode of the sixth season of the show.

The 16-year-old singer had thrilled the audience and judges last week when she did “Unfaithful,” Rihanna’s 2004 hit.

Her run in this edition of the show has been tremendous as many had tipped her to win the show.

However, despite her intriguing vocal range, mixed with her charming appearance and unequalled renditions, she still could not make it to the top 6.

Before her eviction, she joined other contestants for a group rendition of “Water No Get Enemy,” to pay tribute to the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

The six contestants later performed different hit songs by the political activist at the stage.

Comfort started the night with a fantastic performance of “Observation No Be Crime,” Fela’s 1977 song; and Faith followed through after she rendered a good rendition of “Palava.”

Francis thrilled the audience with his performance of Kuti’s 1971 hit track, “Yellow Fever;” and Kingdom entertained the audience with his “Gentleman” delivery.

Emmanuel gave an energetic delivery of ‘No Agreement,” as Akunna kept her anxiety aside and gave an impressive performance of “Lady.” Her stage performance was commended by the judges, with Seyi Shay comparing her to the likes of Yemi Alade and Omawumi, Nigerian singers.

THEWILL writes that one or two of the top 6 Nigerian Idol contestants may be eliminated during next week’s live show.
