BEVERLY HILLS, December 30, (THEWILL) – It has been a tumultuous year and despite the coronavirus pandemic, entertainers still found time to meet people, fall in love and hold a wedding even though it meant taking greater precaution and having more intimate ceremonies.
Here are 10 Nigerian celebrities who tied the knot in the year of the pandemic
Williams Uchemba:The actor and philanthropist walked down the aisle with his partner, Brunella Oscar in a church ceremony officiated by Pastor David Ogbueli in Lagos in November. The reception which was held thereafter was a star studded one with most of Williams Uchemba’s colleagues in attendance. The traditional wedding ceremony was held the week before in Alor, Anambra state and also had in attendance some of his colleagues who came to celebrate him and his wife.
Emmanuel Ikubese:The Nollywood actor and model, tied the knot in March with his wife, Anita Adetoye, a makeup artist. The wedding saw performances from Timi Dakolo, Preshstagram, Orezi, Sean Tizzle and Tiwa Savage.
Sam Ajibola:The actor more popularly known as Spiff in the series, ‘The Johnsons’, walked down the aisle with his partner, Adanna about two weeks ago. The wedding, held in Lagos was a very intimate wedding with just close friends and family members. Earlier in the year, Samuel married his partner traditionally in Awka, Anambra State.
Erhiga Agarivbie:The Delta State based rapper, had earlier announced his engagement to his partner, Morenike and around the middle of the year, in September, the two officially tied the knot in a very beautiful ceremony.
Diribe Chidi Richard:The comedian and star actor in ‘My Flatmates’, more popularly known as MC Pashun, on September 7, 2019 walked down the aisle with his beautiful wife Gift Oghenero. The couple held their traditional wedding in Egbo Urhie, Delta on September 7, 2019 and later held their white wedding ceremony which was attended by his colleagues such as Bovi, Buchi, Senator, and Seyi Law.
Yakub Jubril:More popularly known as YQ, the singer took to his social media to share a couple of photos from his wedding, introducing himself and his partner as Mr & Mrs Jubril. YQ and his partner have been engaged since 2018.
Nina Ivy Onyenobi:Earlier in the year, February 15th, former BBNaija contestant, Nina got married to her husband in Imo State. The twist to the wedding is that her husband wasn’t present at the wedding and only posted pictures of herself during the wedding.
Opeyemi Gbenga Kayode:The singer and songwriter who is also known as Pepenazi quietly tied the knot with his beautiful wife Janine Osbourne on October 30,2020. The news was announced by Pepenazi’s brother, fellow musician Do2dtun who celebrated the couple on his social media page.
Anita Joseph:On Valentine’s Day, actress, Anita Joseph had a civil ceremony with her husband, Michael Fisayo where they exchanged their wedding vows.
Khafi Kareem and Gedoni Ekpata:The former housemates of Big Brother Naija, made their relationship official at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry on, Thursday, September 24, 2020.
It wasn’t all rosy for the entertainers as some of them decided to end their contracted union. A few such entertainers are;
MayD:The singer who was born Akinmayokun Awodumila ended his two-year marriage to his Swedish wife, Carolina Wassmuth this year for reasons he has refused to disclose. May D and his ex-wife have a daughter who is almost two years old.
Olugbemiro Tokunbo:The four-year-old marriage of the singer who is more popularly known as GT Da Guitarman and his wife, Annie Obiageli ended early this year. They both had been separated for six months before the singer made the announcement. He however says that she is still his wife, as they are not divorced yet.
Regina Askia:The 51-year-old former Nollywood actress took to her social media sometime this year to reveal that her 19-year-old marriage with the father of her children, Rudolph Williams has ended. She did this via a video clip in which she was chatting with her son, on marital struggles. The former beauty queen who is a practicing nurse revealed that despite the crisis that rocked their marriage and eventual divorce, herself and Rudolph still maintain a good relationship.
Sidney Esiri:The five-year-old marriage of the singer who is more popularly known as Dr Sid came to an end in January of this year. His wife, Simi Esiri, publisher of lifestyle magazine, Schick, took to her social media to make the announcement, saying their priority was co-parenting their two daughters.
