June 11, (THEWILL)- Akwa Ibom State’s Governor Udom Emmanuel has stated that the only way to achieve sustainable economic growth in Nigeria would be to return power to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the centre.
The Governor stated this at a media parley in Uyo as part of the activities to mark his six years in office on Friday, recalling that the PDP government left Naira to Dollar exchange at N192 and GDP at very impressive rates.
Drawing a comparison between Nigeria with a PDP President and the nation presently, Udom said the crisis in the nation’s economy could only happen by restoring the former party at the centre.
He therefore called on Nigerians to work to ensure that PDP returned to power, to take the nation out of the present economic quagmire.
“What you need for a sustainable economic development in Nigeria is PDP. Look at how much we left Naira to Dollar exchange. Check out the inflation rate today, check the GDP. The only solution is PDP,” he stated.
On the perceived face-off with his predecessor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Governor Emmanuel said: “On my honour, I have no problem with anyone. But let me say it here that political parties are just platforms and once elections are over, we should all come together for development.
“Unless anyone would say he has a problem with Udom Emmanuel which I’m not aware of.”
